This past weekend I had the privilege of not only attending the Silicon Valley Code Camp, but to introduce Tekton to the development community. While I have attended Code Camp over the last decade between Silicon Valley and Southern California, this is my second time speaking.
The one thing I enjoy about this particular type of event is that plethora of topics covered ranging from the technical to professional development (job hunting to management to transitioning from developer to architect). Even on the technical side there were talks covering mobile devices such as Tizen, a history of JSON by the person who coined it, a full track dedicated to React, and even a talk on modern Mainframe computing.
For those whom are not familiar with the conference, it is usually held over a weekend for free or a nominal fee of $50. All of the speakers volunteer their time and material for the betterment of the community. There were quite a few people looking to advance their careers, those starting out, and those looking to hire.
While word has it that it will no longer be hosted at PayPal, I'm hopeful that they will be able to continue on with another location.
Lastly, I do want to send out a big thank you to the organizers and volunteers for putting this together.
